The Wood Brothers
On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, Chris and Oliver Wood are sweeping through South Louisiana for a pair of shows in New Orleans and Baton Rouge. You may recognize Chris as a founding member of modern jazz titans Medeski Martin and Wood, as well as being one of the most talented bass players out there today. His brother Oliver, while a little less well known, is just as talented and just as powerful a presence on stage – leading the sibling duo on acoustic/slide guitar and vocals.
Tonight, The Wood Brothers will be performing a private concert on the banks of the Mississippi River in New Orleans’ Bywater neighborhood at 6:30pm. While the performance is off limits for fans, it is thankfully being video broadcasted by LiveSet for the whole world to see here.
They continue the run with a gig at The House of Blues New Orleans tomorrow night, and Baton Rouge’s The Varsity Theatre on Wednesday evening before continuing on through Florida and a large West Coast tour. Should be great shows.
